5 years agoKevin Park created SDP-434 for journalPrefix does not run with backup_functions.sh if it is set to something else other than /p4/<instance>/~. It would be good if SDP works w...ith a value set to journalPrefix. There is a case that users keep their backups in a central location that follows an archival strategy that meets their compliance requirements. They can store each instance backup in a named directory, but restoring from a backup in the event of failure with multiple instances becomes confusing when they have multiple instances with the same SDP name - host1 instance1 and host2 instance1 both produce backups named p4_1*. «

A quick fix (if possible) would be appreciated for this prospect customer. [Customer's comment]Unfortunately, in practice, this is not a workaround. Our problems go much deeper than simply trying to add files. I can try to give you a better project for reproducing issues if you need it, but my time budget for evaluating Perforce is running low :(. I was hoping that the crashes found in working with 1000+ .cs files would be a result of the same problems that are causing the instabilities we are seeing in our actual project (which contains proprietary data that I cannot simply share). The idea was if we get those crashes fixed and can try out a new build, maybe that build will resolve all of our crashes. To demonstrate how unusable the plugin is in our actual project I made a short video for you. I should note that the materials folder for the "hex" contains over 3000 materials, so maybe this is the reason the problem is so prevalent. Yes, 3000 materials is unrealistic, unreasonable, and un-everything under the sun, but that is what we are given to work with, and until we can clean it up, that is what we must work with. And we can work with it just fine until we load the P4Connect plugin. This video also demonstrates the right-click-crash issue I originally contacted you about (whenever the menu takes a second to popup, a crash follows).

9 years agoKevin Park created job000555 for When adding more than 1000 files, a crash occurs on Windows 7(x64). Since the customer is a prospect, and currently evaluating Perforce with P4Connect..., it would be appreciated if we could fix the problem as soon as possible. Reproduce Steps; 1. Download the customer's project from the following link; https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3CpP6A8uVmkRHZYUHN5NC1TLWs/view?usp=sharing 2. Go to ~\Assets\"New Folder" in Windows Explorer, and copy & paste *.cs files to make more than 1000 files 3. Open the project in Unity 4. Install P4Connect (2016.2.138.5874-Release) 5. Select all files in Project -> Assets -> "New Folder" in Unity, and right-click on the files, and go to Perforce -> "Add to depot" 6. Crash occurs «
