How to Browse the Public Depot

If you're simply curious about our Public Depot, please browse freely. Here's how:

• We currently have two browser programs installed for use with the Public Depot. These are user-contributed Perl programs; try them both and see which one you like:

  perfbrowse	Originally contributed by ???, with modifications by Jeff Marshall, Clay Mayers, and Greg Spencer.
  P4DB	Contributed by Fredric Fredricson.

  If neither of these programs completely satisfies you, we'd be happy to consider your modifications or alternative offerings! (See "How to Contribute" below.)

• We also have WebKeeper installed, so if you know exactly which depot file you want to see, you can give it to your web browser as a URL, using http://public.perforce.com as the root. For example, to look at this file:

  	//public/jam/src/jam.c

  You'd use this URL:

  	http://public.perforce.com/public/jam/src/jam.c

• Finally, if you are a Perforce user, you can use any p4 or P4Win reporting commands to browse the Public Depot. Just set the following connection values:

  P4PORT	public.perforce.com:1666
  P4USER	guest
