  1. VCP Developer System Installation Instructions

  4. These instructions are for developers only, not for end users.  End
  5. users should use one of the pre-built distributions like "vcp.exe" or
  6. "vcp-rh8", etc in order to get supported, stable builds.

  8. Before installing VCP, you must install the XML Parsing library "Expat",
  9. available at:

  11.    http://sourceforge.net/projects/expat/

  13. Installing that allows XML::Parser to install, which allows
  14. XML::ValidWriter to install, which allows VCP to install.
  15.  
  16. You will also need a p4d >= 99.2 if you want to use the p4 I/O features,
  17. since vcp uses the filelog -m option.
  18.  
  19. VCP is all Perl code, and uses a number of other Perl modules.  Installing
  20. these is a bit of a pain, but CPAN or PPM can do it for you.  See
  21. Makefile.PL for what you need.

  23. Note that there are a few "developer only" modules like BFD and
  24. Text::Table that you may want to install manually if you want to use
  25. some of the developer-only filters and destinations.
